Chuck Mallonee Memorial Scholarship
In honor and memory of Chuck, we want to offer a year of fitness in his name and memory. If you, or someone you know, would love to begin their fitness journey tell us why you believe they would be a good candidate.
This can be someone who has never worked out, but is interested in beginning their journey, someone who is held back from pursuing health and fitness due to finances, or someone that was previously a member of Kavod but had to cancel/pause for various reasons.
We will choose an applicant and announce on Chuck’s birthday, February 20th, as well as remember him by completing the Chuck Hero Workout, “60’s Just A Number.” Created and accomplished by Chuck himself.
Please fill out the application below and we will get back with you!
“You learn a lot about a person when you coach them. Day in and day out we see people push their limits, pursue goals and voluntarily suffer. We see how they respond to pain, how they respond to failure and how it makes them respond to people. Chuck walked into Kavod almost every single day. He came ready to work, ready to push himself and ready to learn. But through that pursuit he was NEVER so consumed with himself that he didn't give himself to the people and the community around him. I knew who Chuck was inside the walls of the gym, and that told me everything I needed to know about who he was outside of the gym.
Chuck requested one thing of us. That we share how much his pursuit of fitness affected his life and his battle. He understood that what he did inside the gym would directly affect his ability to show up for the people around him.
When Chuck got his diagnosis, the first thing he told us is that he truly believed all the work, races and nutrition that he had focused on so much had prepared him to fight the biggest battle of his life.
Chuck embodied 1 Timothy 4:8 - For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.
Kavod is forever changed by the impact of Chuck Mallonee. His ability to make anyone and everyone feel like they belong. His ability to make you laugh. His ability to inspire you to go for your goals. His wisdom that he would freely give out any time you needed a little guidance. He moved fast and he moved a lot, but he ALWAYS slowed down to be present to change the lives of people around him. Chuck was committed to being present. And it is a legacy he leaves with the friends that he adopted as family.
I speak for everyone at Kavod when I say - Thank you Chuck. We are better for knowing you.”
